First semester of my college., the teachers

Hi all., Here is a brief summary my first semester @ PSG Tech

1st Semester :

Obviously one of big point in life - the transformation from school to college. So we had subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, ED, etc. The semester and college life beginned with the orientation program. There our HOD was introducing our tutors and briefing about department. GRK mam our class tutor., and Visalakshi mam, G1 tutor., they split G1, G2 for administrative convinence., What an important day, but visalakshi mam showed her punctuality by not turning up(she was absent that day). There was a confusion between sharanyan and saranya while distributing time-tables (What adds is that both of them stood up)

The first day of class., Begins tuesday (not a lucky day according to some hindu myths), First class - Chemistry - Devi Ma'm. She talked in a very professional manner - "In school you used to call ur teachers as miss., here in college, you have to call Ma'm". I got the same feel when I went to Ideal school for my 12th. She was a very good ma'm., always teaching., It also happened that the first tutorial (class test) happened to be in chemistry. That day, everybody was studying and the atmosphere was electrifying., like a public exam (coz it is our first tutorial in college) and I could find every body going through their notes before 8.30 (even myself) sincerely infront of the class room., She was very sincere at the beginning., but as sem goes to end., she became linent., started telling stories., her first day @ psgtech,etc.

Then Physics - Senthil Kumar sir., Mostly his class will be after lunch. After taking heavy food if one listens to his lectures, there is 100% guarentee that they could sleep. His voice and the class in A-Block sort of create a dull and sleepy atmosphere., adding to that the lessons in physics - Laser, lottu losukku, hologram. He will do only two things., either talk about subjects or some other matters - (Seperate and mutually exclusive)., So we could expect a sleepy class or a interactive class., He is very friendly to students

Then comes the interesting Basics of Engineering - Mech, Civil, CSE (donno y te hell thy include CSE, any ways we r goin to do tat for 4 yrs). Mechanical engineering was handled by punitha rani., She was very well known for the jewels she wears., I donno those jewels always looks polished. She handled not BOE-Mech but BOE-boilers., she taught boilers the entire semester. One can't forget her dialogues - 'Thambi, wat is this'., 'Pappa, what is this'., This is not fair., pappa means child while thambi means ..., are we of her age group and girls are looking like children to her?, Any ways she is a nice teacher too., Kumerasan got 28 in final exam out of 30 where he took questions only for 18 marks.

Then BOE-Civil., one of few teachers to almost complete the syllabus., Her class falls in second period - she comes 5 minutes before and ate up our interval time. I dont know what was there in that syllabus which made me feel like I was studing two subjects., Believe it or not, IT department which was handled by our warden finished the same syllabus by just two words - 'bricks, cements'.

Then comes BOE-CSE., The class handled by Pujeri sir., He has a lot of work that he hardly showed up for the class., that too only to teach networks (which we will be studying on 7th sem)., His valuation is different., will award different marks for those who copies the assignments - PV got 'B' while Dharma got 'A'., Original copy PV.

Miscillaneous , Syed Ibrahim, he was Pujeri's substitute., He was very strict towards freshers., so to us. He once said about his lifetime ambition - Getting a job in PSG Tech., the ambition that started when he came for a conference @ PSG Tech in his M.Tech. He set a goal in his mind of becoming a lecturer in CSE dept of PSG Tech., He is very student friendly sir.,

About Madhumathi Mam, - C, she was very good ma'm, understands students. I could remember a instance where a guy asked for marks in internal. She asked why he didn't studied. He told he watched world cup match. What could be her reply...? "If India had won the match, then you have some use of seeing it., But it lost the match., U wasted your time". She awarded the marks though. This happened in second semester.,

ED Sir., One of great person (accordin to me and many)., He will make any person sleep., His favourite word is 'Imagine that'. Even the M.Tech guys who was to supervise us used to sleep. He has his own mannerism of teaching. Compare and contrast between ED faculties of both class., We will be given some 4 problems for 3 hours., And at the end of hour we get the word "Group 2 students., we will finish the problem in next class". Whereas the Group 1 students had 18 problems for 3 hours and will get the dialogue "Group 1 students, finish the problem and submit in next class". He is really great.,

Mathematics, Ashok kumar sir from Kanyakumari - have to mention this., He cant leave his slang even when he speaks english. I know that I got 5 marks in all the internals, the seminar topic., And that too I got 0. (Reserved for rest of cube 6).

Then our great ComSki - Menaka ma'm. That is where manoj got the name singham., The comski was marked by hatred speech of ARV., question of manoj posted to Sindhu in question session after speech "Why you took my topic?", elegance speeches from many like sharan, Hari babs, brinda, etc. She did all the things correctly except for the semester where many got 8(includin me), only one got 10 (guess who....) We awaits Comski, the only free period., those days.
